"We have been using your Web pages to obtain very valuable information especially on alternative farming systems and sustainable technologies."
Altug Sipal, Programme Assistant, FAO Representation, Ankara, Turkey

"Congratulations on New Agriculturist. I found it very informative. Of course the field is wide and you may need to break it down so that a monthly update on most of the major fields can be covered. Particularly useful for the Third World would be the opportunities that New Agriculturist can provide through the Internet for marketing produce in the First World to the benefit of both."
Professor M Hyder, Kenya

"On behalf of the scientists at the University of Cantho in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, I express our appreciation to your good works in publishing the NEW AGRICULTURIST. We have downloaded the two issues 98/1 and 98/2 for use in our intranet and printed hard copies for our students reference. We were delighted with your first number featuring Vietnam in 'Country profile'. The information was accurate.
The present style is excellent because it is concise, easy to understand (especially for non-English speaking researchers). Regarding the contents, you have covered such a wide range of issues already. In future, if the major findings in various international conferences can be published in the New Agriculturist, it would be of great help to those of us who do not have opportunities to attend.
We certainly wish to contribute to the journal with our own works in agricultural research and development in Vietnam if you so wish.Congratulations again and more power to you all."
Dr. Vo-Tong Xuan, Prof. of Agronomy, Director, Mekong Delta Farming Systems R&D Institute, University of Cantho, Cantho, Vietnam

"Very interesting site - please send a reminder of future editions."
Douglas Byers, Canada

"I must thank the Agrisurfer for bringing to its readers' attention your on-line magazine. I found almost every item interesting. You could add, perhaps, a list of journals of international interest. I am passing on information about your website to other potential users/surfers. Again, thanks a lot for your hard work."
Yoseph Elkana, Agricultural Consultant, Consulting Editor: Agritech Israel Magazine.

"Nous avons consulté votre site internet et nous avons le plaisir de vous adresser nos félicitations pour les informations qu'il procure surtout sur la lutte intégrée et la production agricole en Afrique.
Trés cordialement à vous."
Cheikh H. Sylla, Research Assistant, Pesticide Action Net work Africa (PAN-Africa), Senegal

"Congratulations a great deal of useful information and contacts. Any chance of including my recent publication with CAB International Termites: biology and pest management especially written for students and with a strong emphasis on using safer and more environmentally friendly control methods?"
Mike Pearce

Ed: Termites: biology and pest management - can be found in our books section 'In Print'

"Many thanks for keeping me updated on the new developments with New Agriculturist. Very impressive."
Professor Tim Dennehy, Department of Entomology, University of Arizona, USA

"I have just found your site, it is very interesting and wide ranging. I am developing usages for GPS mapping and Variable rate input application and would be interested in how this technology has been applied in other countries. Good luck."
Archie Stewart, Landmaps Ltd, UK

"If we really want to increase crop yields we may want to let the carbon dioxide levels increase some. Please refer to agricultural research journal, USDA, March 1988. Also we might better take and recycle our waste, liquid and solid and not dump it into the rivers for the next city to drink. I further venture to guess that over half of the fertilizers and pesticides used in the USA are not needed, whether it be by failure to act or just not being needed."
David Bellingar

"I have received your email message through ILRI re the 2nd edition of New Agriculturist on line. I am particularly interested in the update on pesticides in agriculture."
Thomas T Dolan, ANALABS, Kenya

"I have visited the site and congratulate you. I shall watch it develop and will undoubtedly respond when it has had time to 'mature'.
David Lister, CAB International, UK

"Congratulations for launching another educative, interactive magazine 'New Agriculturist'."
Sicily Kariuki, Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK)

"Someone (an old NRI colleague) forwarded me your note about accessing your new site on the Internet and I see you are inviting comments.
I think the 'New Agriculturist' has a beautiful layout (so easy to follow and not too many graphic downloads). I particularly like the style of your GMO item."
Alison Eades

"I must congratulate you on the publication. It is both interesting and well presented. I have only had time to have a fairly cursory glance through but one criticism I have is that your article on pesticides didn't seem to be an article at all - rather, a string of quotes. While it is fine to use this technique to add something to an article, you have overdone it and I lost interest before I got to the end. Perhaps I miss the point!"
Alan Pottinger, Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford, UK

Ed: The point is to offer readers a range of options without a journalists 'spin'. We would be interested in other readers' opinions.
To avoid confusion, we have decided to rename the 'Update on' and call it 'Debate'. We have also introduced a form to make it easier for you to submit your opinions.
