Welcome to New Agriculturist, both to our long-standing loyal readers and to those who have only recently discovered our pages. New Agriculturist is now read in 80 countries, and numbers of readers continue to increase edition by edition.

This month we Focus on biological control of insect pests. We do not claim that this is an exhaustive coverage of the subject but we hope that you find snippets of interest within it. Similarly the News and Debate sections are intended to whet appetites rather than overfill with information.

Many of our readers will be familiar with the phrase, if not the practice, of Participatory Rural Research. But the close involvement, to which 'participation' inevitably leads, brings unforeseen consequences both personal and professional. Ann Waters-Bayer expresses strong views in her Perspective, views which many may share. If you would like to contribute your own experiences of participatory rural research, do get in touch with us. Your views are always welcome.
