A new initiative, AgriTT, to promote transfer of agricultural technologies, knowledge and management innovations from China to low-income countries in Africa and Southeast Asia, is inviting teams of researchers to apply for grants. Research teams, which include partners from China, the UK and a low-income country in Africa or Southeast Asia, can apply under three themes: critical agricultural technologies; effective value chain development; and innovation in knowledge sharing and communication. Concept notes must be submitted by 28th June 2013.

In addition to the call for proposal, the initiative - between the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and the Forum on Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) - also supports targeted research linked to pilot projects on cassava in Uganda and tilapia aquaculture in Malawi. To apply, and for guidance notes on the Research Challenge Fund, please visit www.agriTT.org.
