A 75 acre model farm has been built to teach farmers, extension workers and students about the latest agricultural techniques in an attempt to boost productivity and self-sustainability. In addition to a resource centre, where small farmers can receive training, six greenhouses and four acres of cultivated plots have been designed to introduce and demonstrate new technologies, a variety of different crops and new management techniques.

The Model Farm and Agriculture Resource Centre has been created with funding from PotashCorp (PCS), a fertiliser company, in partnership with the government of Trinidad and Tobago. PCS aims to show farmers how fertilisers can be used to boost crop yields without endangering the environment. Different irrigation and planting techniques are also on display.
