Cultivating wild and commercial hybrids of the most popular native flowers ensures a steady supply of blooms to Longmore Flower Estates - a new business established by four former employees of a failed, state-owned flower farm on the eastern edge of Western Cape province. It will be two years before the blooms are ready for picking from these young King Protea plants.
