Cash for work

Women from the village of Labado in Chad, are taking part in a cash-for-work scheme run by Oxfam. In anticipation of the next rains (due July to August) they are digging irrigation channels in the fields. "The point of this work is that when it rains water will stay in the field," says Hamra Housman. "It will allow us to cultivate our field."
