At nightfall, when cattle are safe from predators behind the thorny acacia perimeter fence, women gather milk and men check for symptoms of trypanosomiasis (Sleeping sickness) and administer treatment. Disease levels are high and many households spend more on medication for this serious ailment than they do on food.
