Maize fortification
Quality Protein Maize grows in trial plots at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) in Colombia. The crop contains high levels of the essential amino acids lysine and tryptophan, and is one of four crops targeted by AgroSalud, a biofortification initiative being used to tackle the problem of diets deficient in iron, zinc, vitamin A and high-quality protein.
